A few years ago, I found myself emotionally struggling with my business. I was desperately seeking clarity and a sign that I was on the right path. There were stretches of days and weeks filled with procrastination, self-sabotage, and overwhelming doubt about my life choices. These feelings of paralysis cost me countless precious hours.

I’ve always felt a deep spiritual connection.

It was something I never had to work on—it was just there. Despite this connection, I often hesitated to ask for guidance, feeling as though I was ‘testing’ the universe. The idea of asking for a sign seemed risky, as if not receiving one would confirm my smallest doubts.

But this time, I decided to take the plunge. I meditated deeply and asked for a sign from the universe. During my meditation, an image of a peacock with its feathers spread wide suddenly appeared, vivid and striking. I didn’t quite know what to make of it, so I ended my meditation and went about my day.

That evening, a friend sent me a message on Instagram with a link to a Christmas light display in Lisbon. Just five seconds into the promotional video, there it was—a vibrant peacock lit up, exactly like the one I had seen in my meditation. From that day on, I began noticing peacocks everywhere.

It didn’t matter whether this was a trick of my subconscious or not. What mattered was that every time I saw a peacock or its symbolism, I took a moment to pause and check in with myself. It grounded me in the present and reassured me that I was on the right path. This sign encouraged me to keep moving forward, to show up fully, take up space, and be expansive—even to show off a little.

The peacock reminded me of my mission: to help other women do the same—to expand, grow, and showcase their unique talents. The symbol of the peacock has since become a powerful guidepost in my life.

When you start asking for signs, something magical happens. You initiate a process of inquiry that opens a line of communication with your subconscious mind. You become curious and more attuned to the subtle messages around you.

Saying, “Okay, Universe, God, Higher Self—whatever you want to call it—right now, things aren’t clear, but I am open to finding out,” is a powerful practice. Sometimes, the answer comes immediately; other times, you need to keep asking and stay open to the subtle signs.

These signs can come in many forms—a hunch, a symbol in a magazine, a word on a street sign, or a vibrant peacock like mine.

Once you open this channel of communication, you’ll start noticing signs everywhere.

If you’re skeptical, it may take some time to see them, but don’t give up.

Taking the step to ask the question is a quantum leap toward becoming the conscious creator of your own life. The more you practice asking and listening, the more guidance you’ll receive.
